What’s
new at The Playground Project?
*The
new Touch, Sound and Sight Gardens have been planted at the Community
Commons.
*Work
has begun at the Gath Pool on the new CPA-funded accessibility
enhancements.
*Groundbreaking
for the new Newton Centre Accessible playground is slated for late
summer.
*It’s
non-stop summer fun at Albemarle Playground, where the tot lot
(completed fall 2003), the swings and play fort (fall 2003), the big
kid’s playground (spring 2005) and the wood play structure (fall 1993)
are in dawn to dusk use
This playground
embodies the Playground Project’s commitment to the idea that all
playgrounds must provide meaningful and stimulating play opportunities
with rigor and challenge so that all children can play at the highest
level of their abilities. The design fully integrates accessible
activities so that children are not segregated and can play
cooperatively together, and significantly exceeds ADA (Americans with
Disabilities Act) standards for playground accessibility for children.
In addition, the playground design allows adults with mobility or visual
limitations to freely interact with and supervise their children.
